Sizing Arctic Parkas for cold weather

N-3B Arctic Parkas were used by the Air Force for a number of years as the go to cold weather clothing item. Unfortunately the surplus ones are gone but there are some great reproductions out there. Feed back is that these parkas tend to run 1-2 sizes larger than a normal fit.

Rothco makes several colors of Arctic Parkas in Sage, Navy and Black in nylon shells. As well as a Vintage version of the N-3B with the original 100% Cotton Shell. All these are warm jackets designed to be comfortable down to -20 degrees Fahrenheit.

Perhaps the toughest thing about sizing them is Rothco designed them to fit like the originals. The hard thing to figure is that the sizes were one to two sizes bigger than normal as they were meant to go over other clothing so that you could where them in layers. Unfortunately that does not translate well into how we wear our clothes.

Sizes available are XS, Small, Medium, Large, XL, 2XL, 3XL. Normally the chest sizes are 30-32 for an XS, 34-36 for a small, 38-40 for Medium, 42-44 for a large, 46-48 for XL, 50-52 for 2XL and 3X 54-56. But in this line we suggest XS 34-36, Small 38-40, Medium 42-44, Large 46-48, XL 50-52, 2XL 54-56 and 3XL 58-60.

Of course there is still no guarantee of fit but we feel it is more realistic than the normal scale. The other sizing issue often is length. These jackets are made for some one generally between 5'6" and 6 foot or a regular length. There may be a slight incremental increase in length going from one size to the next but if you need a long they probably will not work as desired.

Having said all this if you are looking for a durable warm jacket Arctic Parkas will get the job done. Order yours today.
